The real reasons why talent leaves a company

"We offer them a good salary, a great atmosphere, all-you-can-eat snacks... and they leave anyway."
Yes. And no, it's not just because a headhunter 🔍 contacted them on LinkedIn.
When a talent leaves, it's never an impulsive decision. It's often the result of ignored signals, trivialized frustrations and avoided conversations.
And the real reasons?
They're rarely who you think they are. 👀
They no longer understand where the company is going
Blurred vision, management that changes every 3 months, meetings that announce "major projects"... without ever explaining why. People don't need an Excel spreadsheet with a 10-year strategy. But if they can't make sense of it, they'll give up.
They work hard... but never get a return
No feedback.
No recognition. Just to-do lists piling up and e-mails sent at midnight. Even the best end up saying, "What's the point?" 😓
(Spoiler: an annual bonus is no substitute for simple but genuine recognition, a "thank you" or a "well done" said at the right moment).
They are empowered... but never listened to
We ask them to take the initiative, then we decide for them. They're given a fancy title, but not the means to act. At some point, they stop believing.
And they go elsewhere. 🚪
They no longer have any room for manoeuvre
Everything is processed, validated and controlled. The slightest change has to go through 4 people. And the famous "be autonomous" is more like "manage, but don't move a finger".
Their manager is on his last legs. Or absent. Or both.
You can't leave a company.
You leave a bad manager. And when the latter is himself clueless, overwhelmed or poorly trained... the damage is swift. ⏳
The good news? These causes are preventable
Not with a ping-pong table. Nor with internal newsletters on "corporate culture". But with real work on organization, management and HR rituals.
And that's precisely our core business.
At P2B Consulting we don't stop people leaving. We help companies make them want to stay.
Not by sticking on patches. But by structuring what really matters.
